I wrote this play when I was 17. With zero experience, no team behind me, and a shoestring budget, I bet everything on my one-woman show and took it to the Edinburgh Fringe. A short 6-day run, a tiny 20-seat venue, and just my mum and sister helping me flyer, Father Away She Goes was a Fringe Success Story. With a sold-out run, 5-star reviews and an incredible audience response, I knew that this play couldn’t end there.

Now, at 18, I am returning to Edinburgh Fringe 2026, with a bigger team, bigger venue, extended script and longer run!

“People ask why I created a character as extreme as Sarah Jones. My answer is simple: don’t hate the player, hate the game. The system creates the monster - I just put her on stage. I’m tired of stories that punish ambitious women. So, I wrote one about a girl who refuses to shrink herself.” — Electra Kolb
